Basic Rules to Remember and Share with Parents (revised 3/10/2006):
 

1) No child is to be left after games or practice without a coach chaperon until parent picks up their child.  Parents will receive one warning, and if they are late again, then their child misses the next game

2) Make sure kids have water.  They should bring their own. Get parents to provide cold treats.

3) No automobiles on game fields

4) No climbing on goals or nets.  One warning is given; then player will miss a game

5) Players should play at least one half of every game

6) If you see your player “losing it” health wise or developing a poor attitude; pull them even if it is without ref’s permission.  Play short until next sub opportunity.

7) No foul language on or off the field by coach, parent, player, ref etc.  Zero tolerance, even for incidental profane language.

8) Never argue with a parent.  If a parent has a problem you can’t correct; then turn it over to the President or any Board Member.   

9) If you have any problems or questions regarding CCSL soccer; bring it to the President or a Board Member. 

10) No smoking or tobacco products permitted at practices or games

11) Watch your actions around kids.  Permit nothing to bring disrespect to CCSL and soccer.

12) If you hear thunder, get the players under a good shelter or send them home.  If conditions are too dangerous to play, then don’t permit the players to play or practice.

13) Rain cancellations for games and practices must be handled immediately by the home team.  You must call the parents or the opposing coach for that game.  You must also phone the Referee Assignor.

14) Make-up games are scheduled for the next practice- weather permitting.  You must contact the Assignor for re-scheduling referee’s.

15) Any field changes must be cleared through the Referee Assignor.

16) Players, coach and parents must clean area of all debris before departing, even if it isn’t yours.  If it isn’t yours, find out who had field last and contact the Assignor.

17.  For every practice and game; every player must wear shin-guards.  They must not practice or play with jewelry.  This includes piercing that is on the visible portions of the body.  If they just got pierced, then it is unfortunate, but that player is ineligible until the jewelry is removed.  It must come out or they don’t practice or play….Period.  No questions or exceptions.

18.  Injuries must be reported to the Referee Assignor, the President, or a Board member.  If a player is injured, you must have a signed Physicians consent for that player to play or practice.  If they don’t have it in hand at the next game or practice; they cannot participate.  Verbal permission by a parent is not sufficient.

19.  If a player appears to have suffered a concussion (even if it was for a moment).  That player cannot practice or participate in games without a physicians signed consent.

20) A First Aid Kit should be provided by the coach.

21) Try to always have someone at the practice and games with a cell phone.

22) There is zero tolerance regarding dissenting to a referee by coaches, teams, or parents!   The referee should not hear a raised voice ever.  If you have a question, ask politely with quiet voice, hands down, etc at next stoppage or at half or game end.

23) The coach is responsible for their team and their team’s parents and visitors.

24) A referee’s interpretation regarding the rules of the game is final.

25) Two yellow cards in a game result in a red card.  Red cards carry an automatic one game suspension.

26) Ejections for Fighting, Attempting to Fight, Unsporting Conduct, Profanity, Disrespect toward Officials, Taunting, Baiting, and Spitting require a two game suspension and may result in dismissal from soccer in Cherokee County for a period of one year.

27) If a team is awarded more than 2 red cards in any one game or 4 cumulative red cards; that team must meet with the Referee Assignor for instruction regarding game behavior and rules of the game.

28) If a team is awarded more than 5 yellow cards in one game; that team must meet with the Referee Assignor for instruction regarding game behavior and rules of the game.

29) Failure to attend Referee Assignor Instruction will result in an individual or team forfeiting participation in games until the instruction is completed.

30) If anyone is ejected (sent off or dismissed) from the practice or game field for any of the reasons listed in number 26 above; they cannot attend the next two games and they may face further disciplinary action by the board.  If a second dismissal occurs by the same person (s); they are automatically band from attending practices or games for a period of one year.

31) Fighting or attempting to fight or injure anyone during any CCSL event may result in a FELONY warrant being issued.

32) Team or player penalties (ejections and disciplinary card violations) issued by a referee may be appealed in writing to the board.  The appeal must be made within 3 working days following the incident.  Appeals must be hand delivered to the President of Cherokee County Soccer League.  The appeal should include all relevant information including full contact information (names and phone numbers of witnesses, player(s) and their parents and coaches). The individual(s) will be notified regarding the date and time that their appeal will be heard by the CCSL Board.

33) Board Decisions regarding rule violations may be appealed in writing to the board.  The appeal must be made within 3 working days following the incident.  Appeals must be hand delivered to the President.  The appeal should include all relevant information including full contact information of the individual(s), and names and phone numbers of witnesses. The individual(s) will be notified regarding the date and time that their appeal will be heard by the CCSL Board.

34) An appeal of the board’s decision can be made to NCYSA.  Note: NCYSA charges a set fee for all appeals.
