U-6 GUIDELINES AND
FIFA RULES
Length of games and ball specifications:

Under 6: Game length is four 8 min.

Micro soccer rules for U6 players (FIFA
RULES FOLLOW THIS SECTION):
Law I – The field:
-
A. Dimensions: Recommendation: length = 25
yards, width = 20 yards

B. Markings:
-
Distinctive lines not more than 5 inches wide
-
A halfway line shall be marked out across
the field
-
A center circle with a 3 yard radius
-
Four corner arcs, each with a 2 foot radius
-
Goal area: none
-
C. Goals: The size of hockey goals or 4 x
6 feet
Law II – The ball: Size
Law III – Number of players:
-
A. Maximum number of players on the field
at any one time is 3
-
B. Maximum number of players on the roster
should not exceed 6
-
C. Substitutions: Any Game stoppage
-
D. Playing time: Each player shall play a
minimum of 50% of the total playing time
-
E. Teams and games may be coed
Law IV – Players equipment: Conform
to FIFA with the following exceptions:
-
A. Footwear: Tennis shoes or soft-cleated
soccer shoes

B. Shin-guards
Law V – The referee:
-
A. Associate referee
-
B. Parent/coach or assistant
-
C. All rule infractions shall be briefly explained
to the offending player
Law VI – Linesman: None
Law VII – Duration of the game:
-
A. The game shall be divided into 4 equal,
8 minute quarters
-
B. There shall be a 2 minute break between
quarters one and two and another 2 minute break between quarters three
and four
-
C. There shall be a half-time break of 5 minutes
Law VIII – The start of play: Conform
to FIFA, with the following exceptions:

A. Opponent must be 3 yards from the center
mark while the kick-off is in progress
Law IX – Ball in and out of play: Conform
to FIFA
Law X – Method of scoring : Conform
to FIFA
Law XI – Off-side – NO OFFSIDE
Law XII – Fouls and misconduct:
– Conform to FIFA with the following exceptions:

A. No cautions or ejections shall be issued
to players except by an independent neutral and FIFA Certified Referee
Law XIII Free kicks: All kicks
are Indirect

A. Opponents
must be 3 yards away before kick is allowed
Law XIV – Penalty kicks: No penalty
kicks are to be taken during these games
Law XV – Throw-in / Kick-in:

A. Kick-in is considered as an indirect free
kick with the opponent 3 yards away from the ball
-
B. If throw-in is used, any delivery
across the touch line will be accepted without. There are no throw
in fouls. The referee may explain the proper method of a throw in
as needed.
Law XVI – Goal kick: Conform to FIFA
with the following exception:

A. Opponents must be 3 yards away from the
ball
Law XVII – Corner kick: No corner kicks.
Throw-in or kick-in will be taken in place of corner kicks
